There is a unique magic that happens when a tight-knit local music community rallies around a great cause, and that wonderful magic was on full display under the open Buffalo sky at the Sportsmens Tavern outdoor stage for Shredd and Ragan’s annual Zeptember Show. Benefiting Make-A-Wish WNY, the late-summer air was alive with high-caliber local talent, culminating in a heavy dose of Zeppelin-infused nostalgia that left the packed crowd breathless. This review will focus on the bands that played on the outdoor open air stage.
Maria and I arrived during the Part-Time Genius set, the band proved to be the perfect spark plug for the evenings festivities. Delivering a refreshing, reggae-infused rock and ska set, they injected a sunny, grooving pocket into the afternoon air. The powerhouse engine of Jeremy "Kahuna" Wells on drums and Jon "Blufeather" Lorusso on Lead Vocals and Guitar locked down tight grooves, while the horn-driven energy of saxophone player Augie Bates paired with bandmates Ben Renzoni on Saxophone, Scott Howard on Bass, Al Polanski on Keyboards, Richard LeRouech on Trombone, and Jake Hettinger on Trumpet warmed up the outdoor crowd perfectly. Hey Hey What Can I Do was a highlight of their reggae-infused set. https://parttimegeniusmusic.com/

Part-Time Genius passed the Four Sticks on to Tsavo Highway, who raised the temperature with an intense, hard driving rock performance. Fronted by the energetic and commanding lead vocals of Emily Scripps, Christian Dobosiewicz added impressive riffs and soaring solos on Guitar. Backed by Brian Calisto holding down the low-end on bass and Brian McMahon driving the drum kit, they shifted the afternoon into a heavy rock gear that kept the momentum surging across the outdoor lot. Whole Lotta Love was a highlight of their tight set. https://www.tsavohighway.com/
From the moment doors opened at 7:00 PM, Buffalo Iron Works felt like a cozy, time-capsule time warp back to 1998. The venue’s industrial-chic aesthetic, excellent acoustics, and intimate, flower-filled layout provided the perfect backdrop for an acoustic-leaning celebration of female singer-songwriters. The crowd was warm, enthusiastic, and ready to rock along to every song.
Silent Legacy (A Tribute to the Music of Melissa Etheridge): Kicked off the night from 8:00 to 9:00 PM, the Silent Legacy Band set a fierce, soulful tone. Their rendition of Etheridge's catalog captured the raspy grit, emotional depth, and raw rock energy that defined the era. Silent Legacy brought the music of Melissa Etheridge to life with heart, soul, and unbridled energy. The Silent Legacy band features Tara Graves on Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar, and Harmonica, Barry Edwards on Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals, and Bradley Heath on Drums and Backing Vocals. Jay Carr filled in on Bass Guitar for this show and he did an excellent job. Jay fit in perfectly and performed like he'd been with the band for years.
Both bands delivered a STELLAR PERFORMANCE!

The Unplugged (MTV Unplugged Tribute) Band took the stage next, and Unplugged delivered an incredible "Ladies Night" journey spanning 22 legendary artists. Hearing note-perfect, passionate takes on tracks popularized by Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, Jewel, Tracy Chapman, and the Indigo Girls won the crowd over and gave the whole room goosebumps. The Unplugged Band features Sarah Gruenauer on Lead Vocals, Mike McLaughlin on Lead Guitar, Denny Soliday on Rhythm Guitar, Sean Gruenauer on Bass Guitar, and Rob Toscano on Drums.

Throwback Fair was easily one of the best, joyful tribute shows of the summer season in Buffalo's Cobblestone District, hosted by Buffalo Iron Works. It wasn't just any old cover night; it was a heartfelt tribute to all of the female artists who shattered industry glass ceilings.
Special thanks to Buffalo Iron Works, Silent Legacy, and the Unplugged MTV Tribute band!
Sincerely, Maria and Joe Tell.

If you have not been to Buffalo Iron Works for a show lately or ever..?
You need to get there- it is a great venue and the sound is impeccable, seats available if needed, and just overall a great place to catch live shows! Located at 49 Illinois Street in the Historic Cobblestone District of downtown Buffalo, New York, right next door to the KeyBank Center.
Housed in a converted early-1900s industrial factory building, the venue preserves its historic architectural features—such as exposed wooden beams, an old brass elevator, and original flooring—while functioning as a modern entertainment space.
It operates as a concert hall with a full bar and a kitchen serving pub-style food like wings and fried concessions.
See you there soon! Tell them you read about them on Joe Tell's Music Blog!
Thank you again Flow Tribe!! we will be following you and loved your show, the energy you gave out was much appreciated by all who were lucky enough to be at Buffalo Iron Works on August 25th, 2026!
