The Brooklyn/Montreal based electro-acoustic trio Sontag Shogun is coming to Buffalo in a couple weeks with the Canadian kindred spirit of Christopher Bissonnette, whose landscape of tones is beautifully manifested on the modular synthesizer. Sontag Shogun's music is unlike a lot of the solo piano composition out there right now by the likes of Hauschka, Nils Frahm and Olafur Arnalds in that this trio is able to use live digital processing and field recordings alongside analog sonic treatments such as tapes and contact mics to create an entire evolving world of sound custom fit to the melodies popping off the piano's ivory keys.
