Ansley Court - Buffalo, NY

Thank You Mike! Now I have Bakers Dozen to listen to...
Scroll down to read more...

Ansley Court was a cool, rockin' alternative band from Buffalo that was gigging and recording in the 90's. I had the pleasure of seeing them play live a couple of times and also had the pleasure of working w/Joe (JOFO 70) while he recorded his solo album in the old Sidway building. Last I heard Joe moved to NYC. Ansley Court was an extremely talented bunch of original songwriters, their sound could be called alternative rock but it is a unique, eclectic blend of many genres. The overall sound of "jade heart bleeder" is very cool. Lots of interesting sounds going on to entertain the ears. I think A.S. was way ahead of the curve and not your average, ordinary band by any means.

After all this time I still enjoy listening to "jade heart bleeder".

Hibou - France

Hibou - France

Peter Michel of Hibou.

France based dreampop band Hibou will be performing in Buffalo, NY at Nietzsche's on Sept. 15th w/Johnny & The Man Kids and Ian McCuen.

The show in Buffalo is part of the pomegranate tour in support of Hibou's new record, It Seems To Me, which will be released on August 8th on Spirit Goth Records.

Hibou is the solo project of songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Peter Michel (see pic above). Based in the south of France, Michel builds a dreamscape of sounds driven by sparkling guitar hooks and new wave inspired rhythms. Meticulously assembled with potent lyrics, crooning melodies, and propulsive drums, Hibou crafts an entrancingly nostalgic sound that continues to blossom upon every listen.

Ian Fisher performing in Buffalo at Nietzsche’s 2/15

Ian Fisher - St. Louis

Info about Ian Fisher's upcoming performance in Buffalo at Nietzsche’s on February 15

These live shows are in support of his upcoming album Go Gentle (release date: February 7, 2025) which was written after the loss of his mother following her 26-year battle with cancer. Despite its heavy subject matter, Go Gentle is not a dour record. It is a cathartic album, both for artist and audience, and makes the case that death, and the grieving that follows, shouldn’t be shunned. Rather, it should inspire us to live more fully.

On tour starting February 7 (kicking off in his hometown of St. Louis and heading across the eastern U.S. and Canada before an extensive European run), Ian’s live shows are set to deliver a cathartic experience that you won’t want to miss. He’ll be joined by buzzworthy Australian singer/songwriter Anna Smyrk and other local talent along the way.

The Molice

The Molice will be playing Nietzche's on May 5th

The Molice are a modern Japanese band who draw inspiration from 70's punk's DIY spirit, 80's new wave, power pop and 90's unchained indies guitar rock. They have a similar vibe to CSS, and Fujiya & Miyagi, with Pixies-esque guitars and powerful 80's style vocals.

The Molice was formed in 2007 by the charismatic female singer/rhythm guitarist Rinko, high tension guitarist Yuzuru Takeda. After a year of polishing their material playing Tokyo's numerous rock venues, the band made their recorded debut in November 2008 with their album 'Doctor Ray'. In the wake of their debut album they also received their first offer to play abroad, and did a UK tour in late 2009.

Their sophomore effort 'Catalystrock' was released in March 2010 followed by their third release, 2012's 'Neugravity' .

In 2014 THE MOLICE returned with a new line up delivering another collection of Lo-Fi Sci-Fi Love with a new album called "Resonance Love" on Good Charamel Records as well as a CD only version released in 2015 including 2 exclusive remixes entitled Resonance Love + !

The MOLICE released their album "5" on  June 11th, 2016 worldwide. The first album the band recorded outside of Japan, The North American version of the album includes a bonus track, a cover of "Bring on the Night" by The Police.

In late 2016 THE MOLICE finished tracking an EP entitled "Signs" which was released digitally September 8, 2017 and visited the US for a string of dates across the Northeast promoting this new release. Signs will be released physically Worldwide December 1st. The band spent the Summer of 2017 recording a new album in the US for release in 2018.

Drew Angus

A promising young voice in songwriting, Drew Angus is just the kind of new blood that makes pop music so enduring. With indelible hooks, and savvy craftsmanship, and city informed lyrics, he brings a certain verve to his work that has resonated with audiences and fellow performers alike. His work ethic and effortless appeal have led him down some pretty amazing paths. He was a finalist on the Farewell Season of American Idol, has had the opportunity to share the stage with Anders Osborne, Marc Broussard, Nakia from Season 1 of the Voice, and sing with Blondie Chaplin and Ivan Neville on a record produced by the legendary Rob Fraboni (Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Bob Marley, and more). His 2013 single Something Crazy, produced by Joe Vulpis(Lady GaGa) made it to #30 on the iTunes Singles charts.

Drew has maintained a tireless writing and performing regimen since deciding to pursue music full time in January of 2012. For the past four years he has been playing out several nights a week, clocking 100+ performances a year at venues like Rockwood Music Hall, Brooklyn Night Bazaar, and The Bitter End, as well as festivals like SXSW, NXNE, and more on the strength of his early demo’s. He even made a surprise appearance on a Southwest Airlines flight, and sang his way into the top 10 on Boston’s Community Auditions: Star of the Day. With his star so clearly on the rise, Drew Angus has established himself as a talent to watch.

This Fall, Drew hits the road in support of his new EP Hold onto Something (Streetdate - 11/4/16) recorded at Degraw Sound in Brooklyn, NY, produced by Harper James, and mastered by Sterling Sounds’ Joe LaPorta.

Tauk

NEW YORK, NY - The prog/rock quartet TAUK announces today they will hit the road this Fall in support of their latest full-length album, Homunculus. The band will play 30 cities in 2 months, sharing the stage with talented acts throughout the trek including Dopapod, Aqueous, Acoustic Anonymous, Glostik Willy, Jahman Brahman, Nomadic and many more! TAUK joined forces with Grammy-Winning Producer Robert Carranza (Mars Volta, Jack Johnson) to craft their first entirely instrumental full-length album. For more information on the album and tickets, please visit: www.taukband.com

This tour announcement comes just as the band is featured in the September issue of Relix Magazine as an "On The Verge" Artist, joining the ranks of Yeasayer, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Mumford & Sons - all "On The Verge" artists featured in the past few years. The issues is on stands today or available at www.relix.com

TAUK's unique experimental blend of instrumental funk, jazz, pop, and rock landed the band spots on last summer's biggest festivals such as Bonnaroo, The Hangout Music Festival, Summer Camp Music Festival, The Allman Brother's Peach Fest, snoe.Down, Mazfest and opening gigs for moe., Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Perpetual Groove, O.A.R., 311, Tea Leaf Green, Toubab Krewe and more. Check out TAUK performing their unique rendition of The Beatles classic "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" for Indaba Music: http://bit.ly/TAUKindaba

TAUK is Matt Jalbert (Guitar), Charlie Dolan (Bass), Alric "A.C." Carter (Keyboard-Organ), and Isaac Teel (Drums). Forming in middle school, a majority of TAUK's members have been playing together for over a decade. The group experimented with their sound throughout the years both individually while studying at top music universities and conservatories, and together as a band - always working to find their ideal sound. It wasn't until 2012 with the addition of drummer, Isaac Teel, and the realization the band could build a fan base around a completely instrumental act, that the pieces fell into place for Homunculus. Jalbert explains, "This band has been through a lot, but we hit a point last year where it just felt like things were coming together the way they were supposed to. We really wanted this new album to be a statement as to what TAUK is all about."

TAUK manages to create a live show experience to match their masterfully produced recordings.  The unique chemistry and relaxed-focus of Tauk's performance is undeniable, but their ability to create immensely melodic and emotional music without a vocal lead is what continues to captivate and impress music lovers across all genres. The future continues to look bright for this talented and ambitious quartet.
