Is Kanye West Right?..."Kim Kardashian Is the New Marilyn Monroe"

No, Kanye West isn't right...just based on looks alone Kim Kardashian (K.K.) doesn't match up to Marilyn.
Kim doesn't, even remotely, match up to Marilyn in any category, how can anyone really compare a brunette with a redhead who bleached her hair blond in the 1st place?...silly Kanye.
Going forward if anyone can be compared to M.M. I think Lady Gaga bears a slighty stronger resemblance to M.M. than K.K. does...for sure!
I've included some photos so you can see the resemblance I see.
Here's Lady Gaga from a recent Saturday Night Live appearance...
(...she's looking good!)

The one and only Marilyn Monroe.

Tauk - Homunculus CD Review

TAUK "HOMUNCULUS" CD REVIEW by Rob Loiacano of All Music & All Bands: Local, National & Worldwide
Check out Rob's Cool Music Facebook page, click on the link below to check it out...

"Homunculus" is a collection of ten well written songs and excellent production, by Tauk. They're an all instrument jam / rock / progressive band from New York City. The CD was recorded in December 2012 - February 2013 at the Solar Powered Plastic Plant Studios, East West Studios and The Spot. Playing on tracks two, three, five, and six, is percussion by Fredo Ortiz. Band Members are: Alric Carter - Keyboards, Charlie Dolan - Bass, Matt Jalbert, and Isaac Teel, all amazingly skilled musicians who are versatile at their playing. They did an excellent job on the artwork and packaging. Their following is big and growing outside the N.Y.C. area. Touring has helped and they are currently on tour to support the CD.

Thank You Rob!

Tauk will be performing @ FloydFest this year, here's the website ...

Doug Yeomans - Down To The Roots CD review

For those of you unfamiliar with the working musician and guitar teacher, Doug Yeomans, here is Doug's bio from his website,
 check it out...

Doug Yeomans has been in the music-making business for more than four decades. Hailing from Buffalo, N.Y., he has traveled across North America playing in concert halls and clubs and at festivals and private events.
Yeomans navigates easily through rock and roll, rhythm and blues, blues, country, and bluegrass. His guitar playing, songwriting, and vocals have earned him accolades and national gigs:

Winner, North American Rock Guitar Competition, 2001
• Inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame, 2004
•Named Best Blues Guitarist 2002 2003,
•Best Country Guitarist 1992,
•Best Bluegrass Guitarist 2004 by the Buffalo Music Awards
• Lead guitarist, “Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues” on Broadway 2002
• Lead guitarist and assistant musical director of the touring musical “Ring of Fire” 2007-2009
• Lead guitarist, “Always...Patsy Cline” Artpark 1998

Down To The Roots CD Review

Down The Roots starts off with "Angel Eyes". This song sounds like a country rock song, Doug's singing voice fits the music perfectly. The slide guitar is expertly played throughout and the slide guitar solo is great. This song would fit right in on any country radio stations song rotation.

The second song, "Deborah Jane", starts off with some great, classic rock, guitar soloing. After an abrupt stop the vocals kick in and the sound of vocals is country rock but the musical groove is pure rock and roll. The rhythm guitar would fit right in on any Rolling Stones record any the guitar solo sounds like the solo on "Hot Legs" by Rod Stewart. Great Rock Song!

The vocals take precedence on "Can't You Hear Me Callin'". This is a great country rock song with a groovy guitar riff and some great fiddle playin'. This song could be called "Americana"with it's blend of country sounds and rock and roll rhythms.

The fourth track, "I Just Can't Leave You Alone", is Doug playing some great, low down and dirty blues guitar. The lyrical content is me and my lover against the world, blues, love/lust song. This song shows Doug's versatility on acoustic, blues guitar.

"Tight Jeans And A V-Neck Sweater" is a rockin' song. The guitar rhythm is pure Keith Richards and the guitar and piano dual solo are pure, classic rock and roll. I just figured out who Doug Yeomans voice reminded of, Jimmie Vaughan. Any fan of The Fabulous Thunderbirds and Jimmie Vaughan will surely enjoy this CD.

"One Way Track" has a 50's rockabilly rock feel with a quick, chicken pickin' guitar solo. The slide guitar/fiddle solo on the outro is exciting. This song is sure to get your old cowboy boots stompin' to the beat.

"Pass It On" is a pure, classic, country music track. Once again, Doug shows his musical versatility by playing a country music style on the guitar track. Mike Daly adds some awesome pedal steel licks on the song to complete the country sound.

"Down To The Roots" is more the same of the same style that is on the rest of the CD. The thing that makes this song different is the lower register guitar (8 string?) that makes it presence heard in the very beginning of the song. This guitar sounds really cool because it played with a slide.

"Sweet Emma Rose" is another great, blues/country song.

"Walk In The Streets" is a lower tempo song that highlights the melody of the song. The keyboards and the vocal harmonies on this song are excellent.

"Restless Man" is a blues tinged, rock track. The cool vocal track sounds slightly distorted, which adds to the coolness. The blues, dobro guitar playing is great on this song. The vocals and the guitar work together to highlight the melody.

The final song, "Mountain Run", is an all out bluegrass jam.

Doug has released 2 CD's since Down To The Roots was released.
Generation Gap was released in 2008 and The Acoustic Album came out in 2010.
Doug is a working musician who performs several times a month, click on the Calendar link from his website,, to see where Doug is performing next.

Thank You Doug!

NEW YORK, NY - The prog/rock quartet TAUK announces today they will hit the road this Fall in support of their latest full-length album, Homunculus. The band will play 30 cities in 2 months, sharing the stage with talented acts throughout the trek including Dopapod, Aqueous, Acoustic Anonymous, Glostik Willy, Jahman Brahman, Nomadic and many more! TAUK joined forces with Grammy-Winning Producer Robert Carranza (Mars Volta, Jack Johnson) to craft their first entirely instrumental full-length album. For more information on the album and tickets, please visit:

This tour announcement comes just as the band is featured in the September issue of Relix Magazine as an "On The Verge" Artist, joining the ranks of Yeasayer, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Mumford & Sons - all "On The Verge" artists featured in the past few years. The issues is on stands today or available at

TAUK's unique experimental blend of instrumental funk, jazz, pop, and rock landed the band spots on last summer's biggest festivals such as Bonnaroo, The Hangout Music Festival, Summer Camp Music Festival, The Allman Brother's Peach Fest, snoe.Down, Mazfest and opening gigs for moe., Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Perpetual Groove, O.A.R., 311, Tea Leaf Green, Toubab Krewe and more. Check out TAUK performing their unique rendition of The Beatles classic "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" for Indaba Music:

TAUK is Matt Jalbert (Guitar), Charlie Dolan (Bass), Alric "A.C." Carter (Keyboard-Organ), and Isaac Teel (Drums). Forming in middle school, a majority of TAUK's members have been playing together for over a decade. The group experimented with their sound throughout the years both individually while studying at top music universities and conservatories, and together as a band - always working to find their ideal sound. It wasn't until 2012 with the addition of drummer, Isaac Teel, and the realization the band could build a fan base around a completely instrumental act, that the pieces fell into place for Homunculus. Jalbert explains, "This band has been through a lot, but we hit a point last year where it just felt like things were coming together the way they were supposed to. We really wanted this new album to be a statement as to what TAUK is all about."

TAUK manages to create a live show experience to match their masterfully produced recordings.  The unique chemistry and relaxed-focus of Tauk's performance is undeniable, but their ability to create immensely melodic and emotional music without a vocal lead is what continues to captivate and impress music lovers across all genres. The future continues to look bright for this talented and ambitious quartet.

Cheap Thrill - Hair Nation

I attended the Cheap Thrill show last friday with two of my good friends. Thank you to Rob for getting me in to take pictures of the band. Also, Special thanks to Jim Crean for giving KISS THIS! a shout out during his rockin' set with Hair Nation. My friends and I enjoyed Hair Nation and the kick ass Cheap Thrill show, even though there was a lil' chill in the air. Thank You Braun's and All Music & All Bands!!

Check out the show review from the All Music & All Bands Facebook page...

CHEAP THRILL, ( Brandon Gibbs - Lead Vocals Guitars, Jeff LaBar - Guitars, Eric Brittingham - Bass and Cheney Brannon -Drums), played this past Friday at Braun's Concert Cove ( located in Akron, NY ). The band is made up of members of CINDERELLA's, Jeff LaBar, Eric Britingham and COLLECTIVE SOUL 's Cheney Brannon along with Solo Artist, Brandon Gibbs. With members of CINDERELLA & COLLECTIVE SOUL, they had a great list of songs to pick from and they chose the BEST to perform.

The band got it going with CINDERELLA's " Save Me" and then went into COLLECTIVE SOUL's " Heavy". Brandon Gibbs played a song "This Town " of his solo CD " Into The Ocean". The audience got to hear a new CHEAP THRILL song " Heavy Man". They got the crowd going with " Heartbreak Station'- CINDERELLA and great cover of Stealers Wheel's "Stuck In The Middle". The band was having a fun time, as well as the crowd. "Long Cold Winter's" - "Gypsy Road" was next and a cover of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean". Jeff LaBar played an amazing solo and then a little HEART's "Crazy On You". Playing CINDERELLA's biggest hit song " Nobody's Fool" got the fans loving it and singing along. The band did an excellent version of REO Speedwagon's "Roll With The Changes". Closing out the stellar night was "Imagine" by the late, great John Lennon. The band has been on tour for 9 months and shows no sign of slowing down.
Thanks to CHEAP THRILL and their management team, and Braun's Concert Cove for the opportunity to cover the show.
